Frequently Asked Questions

General

A creative agency handles the strategy and creative side of your brand — design, photography, video, web, and the thinking behind all of it. At Sidekick, we work with businesses to build brands that communicate clearly and show up consistently, from the logo on your business card to the employee onboarding doc your new hire reads on day one. Everything is your brand.

Creative agencies make things. Marketing agencies distribute them. We focus on producing the content — brand strategy, design, video, photography, web — not running ads or managing media buys. We work well alongside marketing teams or agencies who handle the distribution side. What we don't do: paid media, SEO services, social media management, or PR.

It depends on what you need. If you have one specific ask — a logo, a headshot session — a freelancer is often the right call, and we'll say so. If you need branding, a website, photography, and video without managing four separate contractors, an agency makes more sense. We function like an in-house creative team: one relationship, one invoice, multiple capabilities.

Five things determine what your subscription or project costs:

  • Turnaround speed — Do you typically need things fast, or do you plan requests out in advance?
  • Volume — How often are you sending us work?
  • Quality tier — Some projects need pitch-perfect polish. Others just need to be solid and on-brand. We scale accordingly.
  • Reach — Are your materials going out locally, nationally, or globally? That changes the scope.
  • Company size — Number of employees, revenue, and complexity all factor in.

We work with clients two ways. Subscriptions are ongoing monthly relationships for clients who need consistent creative support. The longer we work together, the better and faster the work gets. Projects are one-time engagements with a fixed scope, timeline, and cost for clients who have a specific need but nothing recurring.

A subscription is an ongoing monthly relationship where we function as your creative team. The scope depends on your plan, but typically covers design, content creation, web updates, photography, video, and other creative needs as they come up — without scoping a new project every time. See our subscription options here.

Brand strategy and creative execution. On the strategy side, we help businesses clarify who they are — positioning, messaging, and visual identity. On the execution side, we build it out: logos, web design, photography, video, and ongoing creative support. See our services page for the full breakdown.

Yes. Our work page has case studies and recent projects. You can also follow us on Instagram @sidekickagency for a regular look at what we're working on.

Almost everything is done in-house. On rare occasions — usually for large-scale or highly specialized work — we'll bring in a contractor we've worked with before and trust. When that happens, we stay closely involved and own the outcome.

We're always open to talented people. Check our careers page for current openings.

Yes. For projects at or above $5,000, we require a 50% deposit before work starts.

No — we work with clients across the country. We're based in Waco, Texas, and a large portion of our work happens remotely, while we also love working with local brands. For projects that require on-location shoots or in-person work, we're happy to travel. Travel costs are billed separately.

Brand Strategy Process

If you're not sure how to position your brand, what makes you different, or why your current brand isn't landing — you probably need strategy before anything else gets built. If you already have clarity on who you are and just need it executed, design is the right starting point. When in doubt, book a call and we'll tell you honestly where to start.

It's not required, but we strongly recommend it. Oftentimes brands don't realize something is off until they try to grow and the foundation isn't there. The process gives us what we need to create work that's specific to you — not just visually solid in general.

It forces clarity. Most businesses have never taken the time to articulate who they are, who they're for, and what makes them different. Brand strategy does that work. The output is a codified brand foundation — positioning, messaging, visual direction — that everything else gets built on. Without it, creative work tends to be inconsistent or off-target.

We ask clients to bring 3–5 key people: leadership and stakeholders with real authority and proximity to the business. Decision makers, not observers.

Web Design & Development

We build on Webflow, WordPress, Shopify, Next.js, and Squarespace — depending on what the project calls for. Most small to mid-size business sites land in Webflow or WordPress. E-commerce projects typically go to Shopify. We'll recommend the right platform before we start.

Yes. We offer ongoing website maintenance through hourly rates or a monthly subscription — covering updates, content changes, and making sure nothing breaks as the web evolves. Most clients who care about their site staying current find a maintenance plan worth it.

Every site we build uses HTTPS encryption and data is always encrypted in transit and at rest. Security is built in from the start, not added on after.

We follow industry best practices on every site we build: clean structure, fast load times, proper metadata, and on-page optimization. We're Google Analytics certified. We don't offer ongoing SEO management as a standalone service, but every site we hand off has a solid SEO foundation in place.

Every website comes with an hour of training. We build sites to be manageable — most clients can handle basic updates without us. If you'd rather not touch it, we have maintenance plans for that.

Yes. Every site we build is fully responsive and tested across devices.

Yes — copywriting can be included as part of the project. We start by learning your brand, audience, and goals, then write to fit your voice. If you have existing content you want to keep or refine, we can work from that too.

We work most often with GoDaddy and Squarespace Domains. Once you have one, we'll connect it to your new site.

Yes. We offer managed hosting for every site we build. Webflow sites are hosted on Webflow's infrastructure, WordPress sites on Flywheel, and fully custom builds on dedicated servers. Managed hosting means we monitor for breakage — if a platform update or plugin causes something to break, we fix it. It's not the same as a full maintenance plan, which covers ongoing content updates and changes. Hosting is billed as a separate annual or monthly fee depending on your plan.

3D Renderings

3D rendering converts 2D drawings or models into photorealistic images or animations. It's useful for architectural visualization, product design, and marketing materials — especially when you need to show something that doesn't physically exist yet.

Architectural visualization, product modeling, prototyping, and marketing materials across a range of industries.

Depends on complexity. Rendering projects can range from a week to multiple months. We'll give you a realistic timeline upfront.

Pricing is project-based. The biggest variable is what you're starting with — a flat floor plan for a building or real estate rendering, for example, requires significantly more work than an existing 3D CAD file.
